Norway – Medical equipments – GridION from Welding Nanopore to St. Olavs Hospital

The instrument GridION carries out sequencing of DNA/RNA based on so-called nanopore technology, and is complementary to other sequencing technology already established at the Laboratory Medical Clinic (LMK). GridION is a medium-scale sequencing instrument, it is compact (benchtop size) and requires little infrastructure, as it has built-in processing capacity (GPU) to perform rapid analysis. GridION has room for up to 5 flow cells simultaneously and can therefore offer great scalability. The 5 positions are independently controlled on each other, which allows a new sequencing to be initiated at any time, and that the desired data management (and therefore cost) can be adjusted based on specific needs.
