Intercontinental flights between Cape Town and Dronning Maud Land and vice versa AWI operates two stations in western Dronning Maud Land (DML), Antarctica. Neumayer Station III is a station that is open all year round and provides the logistical basis for scientific projects in the summer months and therefore has a varying number of participants. It is also the starting point for the supply traverse to the Kohnen summer station, which is located on the inland ice plateau. The operation of both stations requires technical personnel who work at the stations during the Antarctic summer months. This technical staff must be flown to Antarctica via the air bridge together with the scientific staff in order to make the best possible use of the summer work period.
